I have just returned from my first ever WisCon. For those of you who are unfamiliar with WisCon, it's a feminist science fiction convention, which takes place every Memorial Day weekend in Madison, Wisconsin. The astute reader may recall that this is usually my birthday weekend. Historically, this means I usually spend my birthday weekend watching ( Read more... )

This sounds terrific! (As for my birthday weekend, It was spent 100% taking care of my sick son. But the comments on my birthday post made the day brighter!)

Oh no! I'm sorry you were stuck with a sick person all day. I really wished you were at WisCon with me (because you would have loved it!), but since you weren't there, I posted a castle for you. It's not the same, I know, but it was all I had.

That castle was one of my delights!

Looking forward to the rest of your Wiscon report!

Soon! Maybe tomorrow. I'm just so exhausted. I love going to cons and meeting new people and having great conversations with old friends, but when I come home, I inevitably end up in deep introvert crash mode.

I saw that you went to see (and liked) Kung Fu Panda 2, and I'm really glad you got to do something a little fun near your birthday!

Your account of Sumana banging on the liquor store door made me lol. Glad you got to go the Con!

Before I leave town, it's imperative that I beat down the door to get into the liquor store. I MUST!"

*sporfle*

I LOVED getting to see you, especially since I won't be able to make it to Readercon this year. *Hugs*

I like the idea that if a mix is really excellent, then it's a TAPE. Also, theft as the highest form of compliment?

Glad Sumana recovered her license!

And the ninja girl showed me "Roll a D6" sometime earlier, so I actually know what Amal & Co.'s performance must have sounded (something) like.

I love the tape thing. It makes me smile every time I think of it. I like to think it means that the person took extra time and care into song selection and order because that's how you make a good mix tape, and with playlists now, it's easy to just throw whatever on there and skip around if you don't like it.

Yeah, lucky she remembered in time! She did have her passport in case she couldn't retrieve the license, though, so it still would have been okay.

I tried to get video of the "Roll a D6" performance, but alas my camera did the thing is seems to do sometimes where it didn't record sound.
