Hello all!
So first off, this is not a health-related update! Yay! This is a thread about pursuing dreams, though.
As many of you know, a few years ago I created a 501(c)3 organization called SPARC, the Summer Project for Academic Reach and Creativity. SPARC was originally meant to be a residential summer camp to replace what many of my friends and I lost when another camp, that we had all considered to be a home, was sold off and changed in nature. However, my own personal skill is with conferences and weekend-long events. Thus, SPARC is now happening as a weekend-long conference at the Radisson of Piscataway, New Jersey, from July 27 to July 29.
So where do you all come in? Well, we need people to spread the word, we need people to work the event, and we need people to get us people for the event (which goes along with spreading the word). So, we want you to get in touch. If you would like to present on something, I’d ask that you e-mail Timna Frank, the academic coordinator, timna.frank@gmail.com with a description of not only what you’d like to teach, but what your various qualifications are. If you would like to help out in other ways, I’d ask that you contact our personnel coordinator, Jesse Breitbart, at j.breitbart@temple.edu. If you have specific questions about the program, feel free to contact both of them, our president, Becky Robare (becky@sparcsummer.org), and myself, gil@sparcsummer.org, and one of us will get back to you.
Thank you all in advance for reading this, and for being around for this amazing journey.
Best,
~Gil
