It's easier for Derek to seduce them into the dark side but they're kinda damaged. There's a chance that giving them such power will screw them up even more.

I'm fond of Jackson but even I can list reasons why he's not the greatest candidate. And Isaac -- abuse that long will impact him and Derek should be worried about him being sort of the father/authority figure in the pack.

It's just such a bad idea. I haven't seen the latest ep yet, I'm always one behind, but I love that Scott and Allison kicked Isaac and Erica's asses! Even *Scott* is a better leader than Derek.

Yes, to my amusement. I'm sometimes fond of Scott but he's not the sharpest claw in the world.

Derek is in waaaay over his head, no doubt about it. But then, "poor planning" is Derek all over, isn't it? HE PROBABLY ONLY RELATES TO DAMAGED PEOPLE ANYWAY :((((.

I think it has to do with agency.

He was molested and then basically the reason for almost all of his family dying horrific deaths. At 15. So I think he's kinda stuck at that age and relates best to teens because of that.

He sees these fucked up kids and wants to give them power he didn't have.

It is a TERRIBLE idea that can only lead to TRAGEDY & WOE, but I think that is a big part of his reasoning.

When Scott has a valid point, you have to reexamine your life decisions.

I know! I totally facepalmed when I saw who Derek had chosen to offer the bite too because it is going to be a recipe for disaster. On the otherhand, my roommate rightly pointed out that these are probably the kind of people which would accept the bite from Derek in the first place.

I kept grumbling to the screen that he really needed to pick people who were a little less likely to be psychologically fractured.

I was expecting Derek to offer Stiles the bite. And that he never did totally took my by surprise.

Yeah, but it's kind like, better no pack than one that is insane? But that's no Derek, I guess. Scott is so much better at this, it's kind of sad.

I personally find all the new kids so pretty that I'm okay with the tactic.

I wish Derek would turn Stiles though because that would be some totally hilarious shit.

From a plot point, maybe Derek felt sympathy for them? Maybe he thinks they'd be easier to control because they'd be grateful, unlike Jackson who pulled a thanks, but no thanks routine. But yes, ripping of former tormentors definite possibility.

Stiles as a werewolf would be awesome but that's probably never going to happen.

All the new wolves annoy me!! I don't know, I think it's because they're all so collectively mean to Stiles.
