I think the only reason it didn't bother me is that I can't make myself believe that any of these kids are sophomores in high school. It's not even that they're actually mostly in their 20s, it's more that I've taught sophomores and just.... no. Nope, can't buy it. I have to keep reminding myself they're not seniors.

It slightly irked me when she said she'd just turned 16. I wouldn't mind Jeff Davis telling us how old Derek actually is.

HAHhahahaha, it makes me think of Dawson's Creek, omg, I hated that show (or basically just Dawson) because they all talked like they were pretentious college-aged hipsters or something, geez. MTV just wants pretty people, and I'm not complaining, except for when they straight up *tell us* their age.

I figured out Derek would be at least 23 last season... I can't remember exactly how now, but somehow I came up with him being 7 or 8 years older than the kids. Something to do with the fire and how old he was then and then how long it took him to come back to BH, but I could be way off.

Uh, I didn't save it, it didn't interest me since it was a longfic with Stiles as a girl. I'll read short fic like that, but not a WIP.

Some of Derek's actions have thrown up a red flag for me on more than one occasion (the morgue scene, hanging around in the boys' locker room, the fact that he's 22 and only hangs out with 16-yr-olds) but the only conclusion I can come to is that it's a show on MTV and maybe they're not so much worried about the sub-text of their characters' behavior so much as making sure they're super sexy and attractive ( ... )

Yeah, it's a series novelization written by Nancy holder. (kinda like the Supernatural books or Star Trek etc) There's more backstory for Derek, and additional info about Scott's experience etc.

It's not about him exclusively but there are several flashbacks in Derek's POV from when he's first meeting Kate on up through the fire. The book takes place around midpoint of season 1 and provides some good backstory into Derek's character.

I can has a link to both of the vmars teen wolf aus? Because those sound wonderful and I haven't come across either of them yet even though I've been through the girl!stiles tag. But not everyone tags the same. Though the Teen Wolf tags are probably the funniest thing about it on AO3.
