I have had the hiccups for almost two hours now and they do not show any sign of stopping. They are starting to feel almost painful.

Good point.

There were a couple false stops though; turned out to only be lulls.

oh I'm so sorry!!! I hate hiccups. The swallowing three times while holding your breath is a good one...if that doesn't work try sipping water five to ten times while holding your breath. If that doesn't work, just have Hobbes scare you.
