BiCon 2011

Sep 07, 2011 17:01

I've been vaguely threatening to do a write-up for a couple of days now, perhaps it's time I got on with it. I finally unpacked my bags today, too, which made me sad because it's undeniable that the holiday's over. On the other hand, it makes my flat nicer to be in, and I can always think of my next trip away to cheer myself up - not that I know ( Read more... )

Fantastic post! I totally understand what you mean about the different types of BiCons that happen. I'm so pleased that you came, and so pleased that you enjoyed it!

Next year I hope to have a less organise-y BiCon and a more chilled one!

Thank you!

I should point out that the "5 BiCons" concept isn't mine, a kind and lovely person told me about it on Sunday. And I look forward to chilling with you next year :)

*waves!*

(And I should point out that the 'five BiCons' thing is a bit arbitrary - I pulled five different ways of slicing it out of my head on the spot, but there's nothing 'canonical' about the list. The idea I was trying to get over was that - at least - five different people could attend the same BiCon and yet give completely different accounts of the event that might be unrecognisable, even offputting to the others. It was an idea I tried to express on the newbies mailing list last year, when some of them were looking at some of the session titles and asking 'just what sort of event is BiCon?')

Was great to meet you, anyway, and thanks for the chat.

To echo everyone else, this is a fantastic post and thank you very much for writing it. Each BiCon I've been to has felt a very different experience. Wonderful noodlings :)

It felt very sad to know I'd have to leave, and that I would be missing this community for a solid year until the next one. Not bad for someone who didn't see the point before, right

Indeed, not bad at all! Of course there are various polydays, bifests and parties to keep you ticking over until next year. I hope to see you again at some of them :)

Thank you! I hope so too. What's a good way of finding out what's on?

A BCN subscription (I have to say that!) and watching BiMedia.org / its feeds.

Was lovely to meet you and I really hope that our paths cross again soon. Oh and was it me who said genetically beige? It sounds like the silly sort of thing I would say. :-D
