I bought a robot spider from child's book club for $16.50, wouldn't that be cheaper than another degree? :P

Yeah but thats no fun, i dare say there'd be very little Artifical intelligence in it either.

I want to combine my problem solving and programmings skills with the actual engineering of physically making one.

what can i say ... i like a challenge!

Not such a bad idea, but considering the PLC (programmable logic controller) board and stuff will cost $400 alone, i dont think many ppl would like to fork out the money, i might be able to make it cheaper after i build the first one tho, perhaps using an embedded 486 processor
or something.

My plan is to make it USB controlled, so either a sharp zaurus on its back (thus wifi etc) ... or run a usb cable to your PC/Lappie.

You're welcome to throw me a few bucks to cover costs if you really want :D
