There's a line in a Queens of the Stone Age song, "I want something good to die for, to make it beautiful to live..."I have a feeling that a lot of peoples feelings of emptiness, or yearning, is down to the fact that we are generally directionless. We don't have God and heaven to work towards anymore, there's no Crusades, or WWI or WWII or anything

Funny you should mention it - I've felt for a while now that this is in large part responsible for the rising rates of disenfranchise and violence among youth. The age at which we become an adult and have a purpose is getting older and older; and teenagers are becoming more and more marginalized. They grow up with no purpose and being essentially forced to remain a child for much longer. No wonder we see so much frustration and extreme trends developing.

Though I strongly don't believe religion is the answer. Rather, it would be nice to see an era of rationalization and social conscience.
