Merry Christmas

Dec 25, 2005 15:34

I'm at work. Only an hour and a half left. I've been saying Merry Christmas to just about everybody. Screw this Happy Holidays crap. This is Christmas. This is a national holiday. I'm being forced to work, and therefore I'm telling everybody to have a Merry Christmas.

It's not a national holiday, Mike. It's a Christian holiday. Not everybody is Christian. I HATE when people wish me a Merry Christmas. It's so ego-centric, like you assume that just because you celebrate, that I do too. Many many people do not. Hence "happy holidays".

I didn't mean it was a national holiday in the sense that everybody celebrated it. It's just that most places are closed on Christmas. And I get holiday pay for it.

This was my own little way of lashing out, I guess. With all the 'holiday trees' and 'holidays lights', it seems like people want every part of the holiday except for the religious part. Nobody's really forcing anybody to buy a tree or hang lights, but in doing so they should realize that they're partaking in a Christian holiday and not try to make it so secular.

How's Chanukkah going?
