I got the job at WEBS! This is brilliant, now my year off loafing will be a really happy one, since when I'm not thinking about consumer culture, knitting is my obsession.
I felt like sulking all weekend for reasons I won't get into, but instead Eric and I got trashy with our bad selves and went to the Holyoke Mall. I needed some summer/work clothes. We had a super time (at least I did, he was dragged into a fair number of girly stores). But in the end, he even bolstered his wardrobe a bit. I went into Forever 21 fully intending to buy some froofy lady shirts, but they're all so flimsily made, I can't fathom spending 20+ dollars on a crappy piece of synthetic fabric covered in sequins. I guess I'm just into sturdy clothing. Sigh. I went right for the cropped tweed jackets and sweaters, then forced myself to focus up, and ended up leaving with a grass green light sweater, a couple of shirts with neat graphic prints (one says Italian, with a giant rose bloom underneath and the other has a rose with some abstract scribbling over it), a pair of pinkish corduroys (down one from my inflated college size, wOOt) and a really cool ceruluan blue jersey top, with some kind of sash thingy and a lace inset? I don't know, I have no idea how to be fancy, but it was comfortable, didn't show too much skin and it cost FIVE dollars. Everything I got was on mega-lo markdown. It's the only way to shop.
Edit: Hhahahaha, look at this:
At Old Navy I hit up the clearance racks and scored these:
I'm in love with this sweater, as it makes me feel like Audrey Hepburn vacationing in Italy.
I also picked up this skirt, but in blue, with yellow flowers (no picture online)
The weird thing about Old Navy sales is that sometimes the same item will be priced differently. This probably happens when something is marked down several times, and a few just aren't marked down again. This happened with the sweater, and my size was 7 dollars less than the next size. Awww yeah...
Oh yeah, and I got some new sneakers for a third of their usual cost. I still would like some ballet flats, since flip flops are really bad for my feet, and I wear so many skirts in the summer.
The last place we hit was the toy store:
So fun, and no, we didn't elope.
Then it was movie time:
After a sleep break, movie time continued over a late breakfast.
The only thing I really want for the rest of the summer, (besides more 100% cotton clothing) is a bike.
I have been so afraid of bikes because my parents were both injured on them, and come to think of it, I had a really nasty spill on one once. But I walk so far every day, and this area looks so nice for bike riding. Living off campus and commuting to work would be way easier with a bicycle, AND I could have fun picnics too. I just need to find the right one. I need something really low tech, not fast, and with big tires, none of that scary skinny tire nonsense. And it must have a rack that I can put a crate on.
The other triumphs of the weekend? I made Eric eat brussel sprouts, and he liked them.
