This article on New Yorkers' perverse perceptions of happiness is fascinating.

Also: The test! I got 3.5 on the Authentic Happiness Inventory. You?

Cripeees... are you sure we didn't just take a Scientology test there? I could barely register. I'm a freakin' computer programmer, an occupation which, in the broadest definition, millions of people in this country have. There wasn't an entry in their registration form for "computer programmer" or anything even remotely similar. But they did have such occupations as "Paperhanger", "Garage guard", "Cutter" and "Timekeeper".

I chose "Tailor" as it is, in my estimation, the least like what I actually do.

Also, I got a 3, but most of the questions were kinda bullshit, which makes me suspect the Scientology angle.

I admit the test was quite chintzy. And everyone seems to get a 3. But did you read the article?

Naw, I like online personality tests better than reading. But I was thinking that I should after taking the test. You went through all the trouble to post something, and it couldn't be jus the test, so the article must be pretty good.

The test was the too-sweet-but-otherwise flavorless frosting on a rich, nourishing cake.
