the hybrid pen

Back when I was in school, my father brought me two "Hero" pens. One brown and one green. Soon enough, the barrel of the brown pen was broken, and the nib of the green pen followed presently. I put made use of what was later to be called as 'Genetic Algorithms' and continued working. I don't know what I did with the spare cap though. The cap was ( Read more... )

oh yeah - same case with me. i always hold the pen/pencil very close to the tip. so could never use any other "ordinary" pen.

and hero pen was much costlier - started off at Rs. 40 when I was in 7th (which is when we started writing in pen). and then came down to 20 or 25 i think

I too used Hero pens for a long time, until the Microtips arrived. I however have favorites/lucky pens though.
Btw, if you are still looking for a job suitable to your expectations, you should get the pen do the work :P

I love fountain pens (though my grip is really low and ink leaks all over my fingers), but they're responsible for my weird writing style in school. I'm left-handed and obviously the wet ink of what I'd just written would smear as I moved forward, so I started turning my notebooks around by 90 degrees and writing top to bottom rather than left to right. This upset a lot of my teachers.

i'm trying to imagine how you used to write.

actually i've observed a lot of lefties turning their hand 180 degrees to write. it's something like a googly. (I'm not able to describe it better). I think that kind of a grip ensures you don't rub what you've just written.

>>Hero pens have become cool again recently, thanks to the new Vodafone ad. The one where one kid lends the other some ink (which is promptly sucked up by the Hero pen).

The boy, however, uses a China pen. Evidently, the China pen held enough ink in its reservoir to write one full exam, AND spare a little for the girl, whose puny Hero pen couldn't even get her through one paper. Thus demonstrating the clear superiority of China pens over Hero pens.

Amazing post! As an international student in India my 'amma' gave me this type of pen to write my first exam. Lo and behold I was able to use this with few blotches as I never even took it on a test run nor ever used such a pen before! I of course graduated to cello gel pens because they would not leave blotches on my salvaar kamiz!! (or all over the house!)
