Novels and Lists

Howdy, folks. I haven't been writing here a lot lately, for a couple of reasons. One is that I got peer-pressured into joining Facebook, since it is my duty to only latch onto a fad after it's started to wane (see you all on Twitter in 2017!). So that's provided a quick outlet for a lot of my random thoughts, which is death to Livejournal. The ( Read more... )

Sam, I'm so impressed that you are doing the whole NaNoWriMo thing. The fact that you are even taking it on as a goal is amazing. I couldn't even dream of writing that much in one month. I agonize enough about my silly blog posts.... I shall have to follow your writing! That is all.

Well, NaNoWriMo's a bit easier in some ways, since nobody ever said the 50,000 words have to be any good. Still got a couple weeks left, if you want to join up! Just spew forth whatever comes to mind, and call it a novel!

The troop list is very interesting. 3 Heavies and only 1 Fast attack? Considering how easy those trukks go boom, you could be doing alot of foot sloggin with that list. I don't know enough about orks to know what you should cut, but you need more fast moving units, bike's or something. This is basically the same issue I found last couple games with my army.

That reminds me, need to add assault marines and bikes to the wishlist.

It's true, but it might still work out. The Kans offer up juicy vehicle targets that you don't want to get within 24" (Strength 8, AP 2 weapons, with an un-Orky BS 3), and since they're split up into two squadrons, it'll take some doing to kill them off. The Looted Wagon is long-range: 36" ordnance weapon. The Lootas, at 48", have even better range. Meanwhile, the deffkoptas are outflanking, and can turbo-boost to where they need to be no matter what side they come in on. Snikrot and the kommandos also outflank, but they can choose to come in on ANY side.

In turn one, the enemy will have to decide whether they go for the trukks, the Kans, or the heavy bombardment from my back line. In a couple of turns, the shoota boyz are in range, Snikrot is wreaking havoc on the enemy back lines, the deffkoptas are pumping 15 Strength 5 shots into rear armor, and in all likelihood, the Lootas are blowing up any light transport that pokes out of cover. It's no Kult of Speed list, but I think it'd take a while to break.
