Finished Xillia. It took me about 40 hours. I did a fair number of side events and exploring but a minimal amount of grinding... people were complaining about the length, but story-wise, at least, I thought it was a good length. I know some of the other Tales games really seem to drag by around the third act, so I don't mind ( Read more... )

That's a shame that there's not more cameo stuff -- there's no way Bamco doesn't know that Tales fans like to see those in the game. They did pretty well putting cameos in Vesperia and Hearts, so you wouldn't think they'd screw it up again.

I'll get around to playing it next year; maybe they'll come out with Xillia R or whatever...nah, probably not.

Oh, so you played Jude's side first? I thought you were playing Milla's for sure. XD

I definitely agree on the battle system; it's probably the game's strongest point by far.

I do like how we can instantly teleport anywhere we've been before, though I still feel like having some sort of vehicle does add a little bit of uniqueness to a Tales game in general. Plus, if I'm not mistaken they usually give the option to warp instantly too anyway.

I still have quite a ways to go but I'll probably have a review as well when I've beaten Milla's path.

The worst part is that the game sold like hotcakes - I think it's the best first week sales for a Tales game, period - so Bamco is probably going to assume that everything they did is fine, and unfortunately probably continue it in the future. Sigh.

Preeeetty much. :(

No cameo? Wow, I would've figured they'd toss in Yuri as a cameo since he's, like, the most popular main protagonist in the series. It'd fit the whole 15th anniversary thing well AND it'd be another point in the game's favor. I'm surprised that they seemed to have been so lazy about some Tales traditions.

I'd joke about them coming out with a "Tales of Xillia R" later on, but they have nothing left to port to. Oh wait, there's the Vita...

This comments a bit late, sorry. I haven't played, but mind if I ask what character really made you dislike them and why? I really don't mind about spoilers - the characters in Tales games are some of the biggest highlights for me, and I'd just like to know more about them. :3

Primarily Jude and Alvin.

Jude is fine until about 2/3 of the way through, when he goes into full-blown emo mode and you just want to slap the crap out of him. He's a gigantic douchebag to Leah while this is going on.

Anybody could've guessed that Alvin would betray the party just from the preview materials, but even with that the nonsensical manner in which he acts just makes his whole backstory dumb.

Thanks so much! I was worried about those two, Jude just looked to have that emo potential... ^^; I had kind of hoped the traitor of this story would at least be fleshed out decently, but alas. v.v Well, at least this way my expectations won't be too high! XD Again, thanks a lot!
