Husband and I found Hounds very lacking, as well (plus the "horrific" effects are a bit annoying, and don't get us started on the "Mind Palace"). The weakest episode so far, and I was kinda bummed this was Gatiss' offering this season. It sounds like Reichenbach is going to be intense, so *crosses fingers*
Thanks for reminding me, I was also going to complain about the Mind Palace being ridiculously cheesy, especially how Cumberbatch was gesticulating through the whole thing. Previous episodes have used the on-screen text much more effectively when depicting Sherlock's thought processes, not sure why they needed to go to that ridiculousness.
Not to mention Sherlock just happened to have read about a secret CIA project from 20 years ago, how convenient... there wasn't really any deducing going on, it was quite accidental.
About the only good thing I liked about the Mind Palace is it opened up ideas for things like this :P As much as I enjoy the show, it seems like almost every ep has one moment that makes me cringe, like the street chase during Study in Pink. This was def. the worst though.
Other than that, yeah it was pretty terrible. And how about Lestrade just showing up? Ugh. Gatiss I am disappoint.
I really enjoy this show a lot, the cast has great chemistry, so I hate to sound like I'm really bagging on it.. >_>
