Latest thing that's creeping up on the Nicovideo rankings (this may interest
hikarugenji,
rumichan,
mura_arkaine,
skuldchan, as well as other otaku around my age):
http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/90%E5%B9%B4%E4%BB%A3%E3%82%A2%E3%83%8B%E3%82%BD%E3%83%B3%E3%83%84%E3%82%A2%E3%83%BC It looks like a bunch of people have gotten together and conspired to make a bunch of karaoke vids for big-name anime songs from the '90s. Talk about nostalgia. Evidently it's struck a chord among Nico; several of these are (simultaneously) on the Top 10 lists currently.
If you don't want to comb through the list, here's some highlights:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11833010Hana-tan sings Rinbu Revolution, from Utena. Hana-tan recently came to my attention because
her rendition of the Vocaloid song Romeo to Cinderella has the most hits out of any on Nico, more than 1.6 million, and yeah, she's a really good singer. Over 100,000 hits in 3 days!? Not that she's better than Okui Masami or anything (let's face it, few people are) but this is pretty awesome for Nico amateurs.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11831952Moonlight Densetsu, from Sailor Moon. They do a great job... almost sounds like the original. There's actually
another Moonlight Densetsu video at the top of the rankings right now, but it's uh... a little different. SHORYUKEN!
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11832534Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan, from Sakura Taisen. It's a guy, d'oh... lol. He also did some super-nekketsu version of only my railgun that I heard recently.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11847441What's Up Guys from Bakuretsu Hunter. Another duet. The girl does a lot better job than the guy singing, I think, but overall it's still pretty good.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11832288Catch You Catch Me, from Card Captor Sakura. I think the singer's straining a little, lol.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11832454truth, from Utena. This singing style is a little much for me...
