Made with Photoshop 7.0. Uses Curves, Selective Colors, & Color Balance.
Step 1: Choose image. I chose
this image.
Step 2: Crop the image to 100x100 however you want.
Step 3: Make a new Curves layer.
RGB: Point 1- 165,146 Point 2- 137,121
Red: Point 1- 133,117
Green: Point 1- 124,132 Point 2- (point already in the upper right corner) 255,244
Blue: Point 1- 132,117 Point 2- 147,136 Point 3- (point already in the upper right corner) 250,255
Step 4: Make a new Selective Colors layer.
Reds: -100,-14,+40,0
Yellows: -100,-10,+22,0
Cyans: 0,0,0,+100
Blues: 0,0,0,+100
Whites: 0,0,0,-12
Neutrals: 0,0,-36,0
Blacks: 0,0,0,+4
Step 5: Make a new Color Balance layer.
Shadows: -16,-8,0
Midtones: 0,+25,0
Step 6: Make a new blank layer. Fill with #EC924F. Set to Darken at 14%.
Step 7: Merge layers.

This is my first tut so be nice! Please only use this tutorial as a guideline. Don't go using this exact same thing on another icon.
