Precisely my thinking really. Nightwish live was always fairly entertaining but nothing more, and I think all the tensions between the band, Tarja and her weirdo husband was evidently reflective in them not really playing live as a "team". It was very much an "us and them" mentality which meant they were never really "great".

Now that is gone and they have Annete who is very much "one of the band" and obviously is passionate about her role, this really shows - they definitely seemed to be playing with a new fire.

Whether you like or hate where Nightwish are going, I am happy to see the band smiling and hitting top form, even if it's not playing the music I would personally choose.
