That is beautiful and amazingly accomplished, your style isn't at all cartoonish. The composition is very interesting, and the colour theme is really stylish. I love fine art which is also decorative, I don't think that's a bad word. Exquisite.
you guys are all so sweet, thank you. As of right now I have accomplished a lot on it, but unfortunately have been ignoring the doll. This painting should be done by next weekend, I'm thinking. Which is great, cause, you know, I didn't paint for so long - the fact that I can get a painting out in 2 weeks is pretty surprising to me right now.
That's the same way I feel about many art teachers. They can squelch the creativity and joy right out of you! Easier to focus on what works instead of picking stuff apart!
I have tried really hard not to let those kinds of comments bother me - I mean, her (the teacher's) idea of good art is a bunch of abstract squares painted on a 10"x10" canvas using like 14 tubes of muddy paint. She was the type of teacher who tried to push students toward the style of art they personally prefer (in her case, it was abstract.) She didn't take me seriously as an artist not only because of my style, but because I was the cartoonist for the college newspaper. She once made the catty comment, "You might be able to get your work into low-level comic books, but I don't know about galleries". LOL. She sucked at painting IMO, so, whatever, you know?
I get the feeling that the image in front is the same person as the one in back, kind of an alter ego type thing. Its mysterious and dark, so far so good!
Wow. I wish I could see it live. That face os gorgeous. I bow in homage to your talent and loverly painting. I wish I could paint like that! That's why I sculpt....wanted to paint, better at 3-D! Can't wait to see it done :)
