So, my hard disk on my laptop seems to have died. The machine was like 5 years old, so I kind of expected it. I'll be buying a new comp soon, and hopefully the data from the dead one can be transfered to the new one. Grrr.

Not that I want to bear the bearer of bad news, but if it is indeed the hard disk that died, the data is as good as gone. Recovery services tend to run several hundred dollars, and for normal people, it's just not worth it. Sorry
