I sold most of my sword and knife collection some years ago...it was painful, and the only thing I've ever sold that I felt close to.

But...I did keep a couple. I'll have to build up a new one.
I also have a blade left over from one that had a weak tang (you'll have to look that one up) so I'll have to see about cutting it and refitting it.

I do still have one kitana though. Although, when I buy another of them, it will be with the wakizashi, tanto and stand set. I know a company where I can get a pretty good quality hand-made set.

Russia, as well as the other European counteries, has a popular tradition of "historical reconstruction", particularly of medieval times. A man with a sword might be a member of a team of this kind. There is little to be surprised of.

There are also anachronistic societies in America.
I was one of those fellows who, without a local chapter, used mostly unregulated equipment and caused a bit of scaring. :-)
I did get to know a few in these societies, but didn't do any fighting at that point.
There may be a few who read my journal still...one other brother is on my friends list.
I often miss beating and being beaten in that particular way.

I'm not surprised about the sword or the group...just interested that I haven't seen them here before and wish I had known they were in SPb a little earlier--I may have joined.
