Sheppard's First Wraith Meet and Greet

Jul 28, 2009 07:12

Over on the GW Shep Whump Thread, we've started a rewatch of SGA since we're all suffering from SGA withdrawal. This week is Rising I & II. This is my very first real fanfic and was inspired by this posted discussion question.

6. The obvious question, where did you feel there were missed opportunities for whump?

My response: Hello??? OF COURSE there ( Read more... )

Nice bit of whump! So much better to read about the effects of whump because it can be conveyed much better than it was in the show.I enjoyed your added scene. I especially like the bit where Sheppard is wrestling with the Keeper's feeding hand. She could certainly have done some damage with those claws. :D

Thank you :) Sheppard wrestling with the Queen's feeder arm was inspired by Ronon's struggle in Midway - yum. I love how writers can convey whump and its effects on paper so well, to the point where I actually feel phantom or empathy pains. I tried to remember those fics when I was conjuring up this scene. I didn't manage to induce that effect when I was done but oh well. There's room for lots of growth!

Damage with wraith claws... we only got minor whumpage with that scenario in Infection. A pity... :p

Reading makes you live the scenes complety different. I enjoyed this yummy peace of whump, specially the numb sensation and the way he is draged. Thanks, it was very good for being the first one, now you have to please us with more and more :D

Thank you! I always have a soft spot for a dragged Sheppy, preferrably if he's awake and restrained. But alas, not in this story!

Future fics... ah, well, we shall see. My muse doesn't strike me that often.

That was a great tag. Excellent added whump and I enjoyed reading a bit more of his thoughts during the whole process. Thanks.

Also - Love the Chocolat soundtrack too!!

Thanks!! There was much whump talk on the thread regarding this scene in Rising and the image of Sheppard struggling with the Queen's feeder arm (a la Ronon in Midway) popped in my head. Next thing I knew, I was trying to figure out the rest of the scene, which involved a lot of neck whumpage. That was fun.

Chocolat - love the soundtrack. Amazingly, I never saw the movie! I was chatting with a friend about great soundtracks and I told her Chocolat was highly recommended so I was tempted to go buy the soundtrack. Turns out, she had the CD. She was looking for Pride and Prejudice, and wouldn't you know it, I had the CD. One exchange later, I was in love!

Thank you! It's not that often that I think up whump for Shep because I get so much yummy imagery already from all the fanfics. But the discussion on the thread did me in! One thing lead to another and I had a story in my head. Reading whump really does add to the experience. For some reason, TPTB never want to push JF's acting abilities to the limit with well written whump stories. The main cast of SG-1 had multiple storylines throughout the years but not SGA, with the exception of DH. Perhaps JF didn't want it or they just didn't see the worth. Too bad. At least we got 38 Minutes, CG, S&R and Vegas and of course, we have all the fantastic writers obsessed with Sheppy!

Oh, nice! So much better than it was portrayed. Whumpers should be the ones writing this show.

Thanks! I am so thankful for this fandom. It has really fueled my hunger for Shep whump that was missing all too much from the show. O'Neill and Jackson both got whumped so well (and as for Jackson, lots too!) but the writing never translated well into SGA despite that many of the writers came from SG-1. Whumpers should get to write the show too or at least they should have whump technical advisors! LOL
