Title: Advent Calendar Day 24
Pairing: JunBa
Rating/Warnings: PG
Summary: Finding the perfect present isn't always easy.
Notes: Written for my advent calendar. I wish you all a happy Christmas, and of course a happy birthday to our sunshine Aiba Masaki <3

Aiba chewed on his sandwich, while he looked out of the window. It was snowing and the trees were already turned into white. Aiba loved that season, even though his nose and fingers were always like frozen when he went out for too long. He loved building a snowman or going for some ice skiing.

He looked down at his legs. “Damn accident,” he murmured.

Aiba winced when he heard a voice at the door. “Aiba-san, your meds.” He turned the nurse at the door smiled at him. Normally Aiba wasn’t grumpy at all, but today he was in a very bad mood. He didn’t want to stay in the hospital - again. Everyone outside was already preparing everything for Christmas Eve, and Aiba? Aiba needed to stay here alone. His family was far away, but they promised to visit him on New Year’s Day. But for now he’d be alone.

“Don’t you need to go home today, Yuki-san?” Aiba turned in his wheel chair. He had talked with his nurse some days ago about this year’s Christmas Eve.

“I am on my way, Aiba-san. I just wanted to visit you and wish you a merry Christmas before I go,” she said with a smile. Aiba liked her sunny attitude.

“Thank you, Yuki-san. Have a nice evening with your family.” Aiba felt something in him clenching. Again he remembered that he was alone on this evening. And the worst thing was that it wasn’t only Christmas but also his birthday - so he’d feel double alone.

She bowed and left the room. Aiba sighed. Now there was the silence again. This unbearable silence. Aiba hated it. He turned his wheel chair and looked back outside. Maybe he’d get a better mood if he’d see the snow falling down on the ground.

“Are you busy?” Aiba winced.

“God, you scared me to death, Matsumoto-san.” Aiba turned round. “You are still working?” He asked. Matsumoto-san was his doctor, but Aiba wondered that he was still working on that day. He thought that the other would be with his family.

“Yes, my family lives far away, and I don’t have a family on my own, so I always work on that day so one other with duties on Christmas can stay at home,” Matsumoto-san explained.

“That’s really nice. How long do you work today, Matsumoto-san?” Aiba wanted to know. He looked at the doctor’s perfect smile and his deep brown eyes. From the very first day on he felt attracted to him, but he didn’t dare to say something.

“I have a night shift. And I thought of getting us a nice hospital dinner and maybe we can celebrate Christmas together?” The doctor suggested.

Aiba heart made some jumps. So he wouldn’t be alone this evening. He really liked the thought about that. “That would be nice, Matsumoto-san.” Aiba bowed.

Matsumoto-san raised his hands. “I already told you to call me Jun.” He smiled at Aiba. “I go to the kitchen now, and I’ll be back soon with a nice dinner and maybe I can organize some cake and something to drink.”

Aiba’s heart made some jumps. Yes, he’d definitely like this. “Can I help you?”

Jun laughed. “I don’t think you want to drive around with this wheel chair here?”

Aiba shook his head. Damn, he was still chained to this thing, but in a few weeks he’d hopefully be able to walk again.

“I’ll be back in a few minutes,” Jun said before he turned to leave the room. Aiba looked around. He took the small blanket from the nightstand and placed it on the table. From the other side he took the candle he had gotten from his sister. He lightened it and took one chair to get it out of the way, which was a rather hard task with his wheel chair.

“Wait,” Jun said. He stepped back into the room and placed two plates on the table before he took the chair from Aiba and carried it out of the way. He smiled brightly at Aiba. “Here, I didn’t get a cake, but that’s alright, what do you think?” Jun took two candy bars out of his pockets.

Aiba chuckled. “That’s perfect.”

They sat together and ate, drank some coke and chatted about this and that. Aiba had already forgotten that he was alone on that day.

“What? It’s your birthday today?” Jun asked after a while. “What do you wish for on your birthday?”

Aiba tilted his head a bit. “I already got what I wished for.” He could feel his cheeks blushing when he saw Jun staring at him. “I didn’t want to be alone today.”

Jun smiled at him. “No, you aren’t.” Jun leaned closer. “And if you want I can visit you more often?”

Aiba’s cheeks were burning. “I would love that,” he said with a smile. Maybe his stay in this hospital wouldn’t be that bad from now on.
