Clarity didn't necessarily make things easier.

The last time he had seen Ginger was at the funeral, several hours ago, and he wasn't seeing her at all anymore; wasn't seeing anything that wasn't there. But there were some things he saw too well. His instinct was all he could trust, and now that he was fully himself, he had to trust it.

Angua hadn't returned home for days after Ginger's death. But she also wasn't a coward, not even to her emotions, so she sucked it up and returned.

Now, she was returning again. After the funeral she'd drifted, wanting to be alone. She still wanted to be alone, but she managed a small smile anyway when she saw Austin waiting for her.

"Hey...you okay?" she asked. Gavin was with her, and went right up to Austin, hoping for some attention.

He breathed out when Angua appeared, belatedly realizing he was on the verge of holding his breath. It was pointless to be concerned over things he couldn't control, but human emotions weren't willing to bend to logic.

"I'm fine. I was just waiting for you." He smiled a bit too, reaching over to scratch below Gavin's chin. Barnabas seemed to appreciate that particular procedure, and while Gavin wasn't exactly a formerly-talking German shepherd, they must have shared a few traits.

"Were you looking for him?" He didn't specify the 'him' in question, but it was obvious enough.

Angua nodded, knowing exactly who he meant.

"I'm going to have a few drinks now. You're welcome to join us at the Hub," she offered, moving inside. She held the door open for Austin to follow. She'd only come by to get a few things.

"I don't drink." It wasn't a no, just a clarification. "The only time I got accidentally drunk I got into a fight and bit somebody. He deserved it, but I'd rather not repeat that." Or the dislocated shoulder that went with it, for that matter.

He followed her inside, his gaze automatically scanning the new environment before returning to Angua.

"I need to talk to you first. It's important."
