☈ 002; dream → nothing and everything is broken

effects: a sense of happiness, warmth and love. yet a very small underlying sense of sadness.
warnings: none.

The scene is a lively one; a shopping mall full of people window shopping, or stopping to happily chat with vendors that line the pathway. There are visible television displays every so often, news broadcasters talking about the current events concerning not the city of Bodhum and Cocoon in general. Certain words and events seem to stick out more than others, such as the annual fireworks display that is to occur in a few days and the recent accident at the Euride energy plant. Hope can finally be seen and seems to be visibly paying attention to one of these television, well that is until-

“Oh, how cute!”

Hope finds that he can't help the chuckle that escapes him as he looks over to the woman near him; watching as she moves to peer into the nearby container of small chocobo chicks happily chirping, simply gushing over the sight.

“You like this kind of thing, mom?” He asks as he approaches the container and peers in as well.

“You used to like these too. You'd always stand in front of the store crying, saying 'I want one, I want one!'” She says with a bright smile, giggling pleasantly as one of the tiny chocobos tries to flap its tiny wings, hovering in the air for a brief moment before flopping back down.

There's a visible flush to his cheeks, but a moment later its gone and a skeptical look takes its place. “And how many years ago was that?”

“Not to long ago. . .” She begins, and looks thoughtful before giggling again as she looks to him. “Only ten years.”

-

With a burst of multiple colors, the scene changes. The Bodhum fireworks really were incredible, and Hope watches the display with a sense of awe and amazement on his face as he seems to tune out everything around him, well... almost everything.

“Not making a wish, Hope?” He turns his head, and smiles if only because his mom looks so happy and at peace despite everything that had happened concerning his father.

“Mom... You still believe in that kind of stuff?” Hope's voice sounds a little skeptical as he asks the question, yet at the same time; he's cheerful and clearly teasing. “Wishing on fireworks? Really? That's for little kids.”

His smile only grows as she makes a face and reaches out, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and playful pulls him closer. “Who are you calling 'kid'?”

“You. What did you wish for?” He asks, turning his eyes back toward the display.

“That next year-”

( the smile on hope's face is a sad one as he wakes up, a tear streaking down his face before he quickly brushes it away and moves to sit up in bed. he quietly stares at his bedsheets, and seemingly doesn't pay any sort of attention--or perhaps just not noticing--the active dreamberry sitting on bedside table.

instead something seems to catch his attention, and he turns his focus to his nearby window and watches a swirl of leaves fly by. )
