Team Meredith

I know lots of people are hating on Meredith right now for what she did in last week's episode.  At first, I was also confused as to why she would do such a thing especially when she said that thing to Derek about not ruining the trial just for Adele.  After watching the episode, although I didn't like what Meredith did, I kinda understand why she did it.

People are complicated. We have so many different dimensions.  Add into that the millions of factors that we have to interact with every second of our lives.  It is true that this seems out of character for the Meredith we know.  But when I thought about it, it also made sense.

1. The LVAD incident with Izzie and Denny
They all knew it was wrong.  But because Izzie was their friend, they helped her.  This is one of Meredith's core traits.  She sticks out for her people.  She may end up doing crazy things for them but she stands by her friends all the way.  She even donates her liver because she doesn't want her sister to suffer for the loss of Thatcher.

2. The bomb incident
I know she was at a different mind frame with the bomb incident way back in season 2.  But it still shows that Meredith is impulsive.  She does things that she thinks are right and would be for the better of the people involved.

3. Sometimes, people let their emotions get the best of them and they make mistakes.

What Meredith was wrong.  I do not deny that.  I'm just saying that I understand why she did it.  And I don't think it's because, as some of us might think that, 'she felt she owed Adele so something.'   I think it's more of she's been in this situation and she knows how hard it is.  And Richard has become her friend.  Meredith sticks out for her friends.  She doesn't want Richard to go through the pains of having someone you love disappear before your eyes.  And so she got it in her head that she wanted to help Adele and so she did it.  Impulsive.  She knew Derek wouldn't approve so she didn't tell him.  Now this is where the conflict is.  This is a major thing for MerDer and I would really like to see how Shonda resolves this.  And I hope we really get to actually see how it's dealt with.

Meredith made a mistake. A huge one. And by it she jeopardized Derek's career and a lot of other things with it.  But I think these things happen.  They are married and they love each other deeply.  So I would like to believe that they would work things out.  Stick out for each other and fight alongside each other.

To love each other even when we hate each other.

I have always supported Meredith all the way.  And maybe I'm being biased because of my love for her character.  But my point is, again: What Meredith did was wrong.  It's a huge mistake.  But I understand why she did it.  And now I want to see how she and Derek will deal with this situation.  And I'd rather that they deal with it together.
