during the last election, my state decided to "legalize pot". I'm not sure what this specifically means because I have no interest in doing pot and now that it is somewhat legal (for whatever definition you choose to put on that term), I have so little interest that I can't be bothered to try and figure out where the line is so that I don't cross

There are some radical anti-smokers. It's not that they object to others having fun (from what I've observed), it's anger and resentment from too many smokers inflicting smoke on them. It's anger at the lack of control we have to prevent the foul & lingering odor of other people's choices sticking to us
