I haven't seen it but your description of John being an idiot makes me think of a TV term that completely applies here.

I half watched the two eps so far, and it just strikes me as unnecessary, but not actually bad. (I mean, I want to hate it and rail against it and rant, but I can't.)

Does the world need a Terminator series? Especially one that ignores T3? (Okay, so there's no show if you include T3...) Or one with such an ungainly name? (Listening to the announcers say the whole name makes me wonder why they didn't go for "Terminator: The Series" or something.)

So, yeah. Glau is well-cast, and think I understand why she's the reprogrammed Terminator instead of someone who looks tougher, but the whole thing seems a bit odd/off.
