I think part of my problem was that I was hoping for more than what they showed. I'll probably wait until y'all see it first and see what you think before deciding if it's worth a second glance. ^_^;;

I WANT KIRK/SULU TOO! *whimpers* And Kirk/Spock. And kid!fics. And everything. :D

That G.I.Joe trailor totally confused me. I was O.o when they finally presented the title of the film.

Bones/Chekov is just absolutely completely stuck in my brain. ^_^;; I think they're my new OTP.

The trailer didn't make a lot of sense. I remember bits and pieces of GI Joe from my childhood and no part of any of it sparked a memory which was a little disconcerting.

I'll have to come back and read this after I get to the movies. Hopefully this weekend? I'm trying to decide if it is worth the hour+ drive and the $14 ticket to see it at the IMAX.

I don't recall GI Joe being particularly character driven, so there wouldn't (I don't think) be characters to highlight in the preview that would draw people b/c they remember them. But it could be that there will be individuals featured in the movie who they haven't bothered to showcase? I guess you can let the first wave go, and then ask if it delivers on your criteria. ^___^

*tackle glomps* I'm not a huge movie watcher, and I'm usually less than enthusiastic about blockbusters, but I really enjoyed this. (More so even, I think, because I'm not a huge trekkie fan. There were nods to the original Star Trek, but it was so much it's own movie that you didn't feel like your lack of knowledge of the 'verse was being rubbed in your face, you know?)

Re: Joe, I hope there will be individuals. I mean, I'm sure that I am not their target audience for the preview. They're trying to draw in men aged 18-35 with the preview...it was just that there was little there to draw in any kind of female attention that didn't center out of just sheer nostalgia for the show itself. -_- If it had been a preview for anything other than GI Joe, I would have forgotten it promptly two seconds after I saw it.

Good thought! I'll wait to see what Meg thinks. She usually has pretty good taste about these sorts of things. :D

Ahahahaha, NOW I KNOW HOW PEOPLE FELT WHEN I WAS DEMANDING WEREYORKIES BECAUSE BONES/CHEKOV IS SO WEIRD AND WRONG AND I LOVE IT. *draws hearts around you*

Also, I DO NOT CARE how bad GI Joe is, IT'S GOT CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON IN IT. I sat through The Seeker for him, I will sit through anything. UNF. THOSE EARS. THAT NOSE. MAMA LIKES.

Anyway, why haven't you created that Bones/Chekov community yet? I think it is an ill-advised idea which means I only ENCOURAGE IT MORE.

XD *snickers* Oh, if I had it in me to be sucked into another fandom, I'd seriously consider creating a comm for it. You have no idea. But as the amount of knowledge I have of Star Trek fits on the pin of a head, I'd get crucified by real trekkies, and I don't think I have it in me to fight.

XD *snickers* Have a thing for Eccleston, huh? Tell truth, I'd never heard of him until you'd mentioned him and I googled, but I can see why you like. Well, tell me if Joe is worth sitting through and I shall consider. ^__^

real trekkies?

Com'on, baby, it's so wrong it's right. Besides, if a "real trekkie" has a problem with it, let 'em help out. :)

Goddamn you local cinema, WHY DID YOU NOT GET THIS MOVIE?! It came out in Britain last week, wtf people, it's an obvious money-maker! We don't care about Ghosts of Girlfriends Past or Monsters vs Aliens, seriously, they're both fug and have a bad story premise, we want the cool new Star Trek movie, not the bad cg cartoon movie.

Ugh, I wanna see this movie SO BAD. If it didn't cost 20-odd quid and take about 4 hours to get there, I'd go to the nearest city and see if they had it at their cinema.
