I am actually kind of frustrated with the writers for ending it that way, since they don't know yet if the show is going to be picked up. I wish they had gone for an ending like BTVS S1, where there was a satisfying stopping point but still plenty of potential for more stories.
And it broke even more when I thought for a second that “oh fuck, it is him, Dean just can't even believe that his father would be proud of him!
Heh, yeah I wondered that to. Poor Dean! This episode really did make me feel for him.

Yeah, I hear that their chances of getting picked up are pretty good, but I'm really nervous now. As a season cliffhanger it would have been fine, but if this is the series finale, that's just too cruel.
After the inital shock, I am not really loving the ending since essentially we didn't really get any emotional payoff from that, but I sure am looking forward to season 2 for that. ::crosses fingers::

"OH, DEAN" was pretty much my reaction throughout the whole episode, hee. The characters are what I watch the show for, and I think they did that very well in the final few episodes. He just hangs everything he has onto Sam & John, and I'm almost scared to see what would happen to him if John dies from the crash. Almost. Jesen Ackles just angsts so prettily. :D
