Sparklies!

Under separate cover, here's a breathtaking piece by artist Dale Chihuly at the Indianapolis Children's Museum. Because children and glass go together like eggs and ketchup!

A big thank you to C&B who pointed it out before we went.

Holy cow, I think that is extraordinary. I love the monochrome. I have to admit, while I like the form, occasionally the colors don't appeal to me. I'd never seen one of his works in a single color, which I rather like because it makes you look at the shapes used to create it.

How are you, and where's the daughter going to college?

i prefer the monochrome over the multicolors also. that picture does it no justice. i just wanted to reach out and touch it. i believe chihuly gave it as a present to the clintons one year and they had it on display every year while at the white house.

i'm good. the husband is in iraq right now so it's been crazy here. he's in and out of here like a revolving door, i tell ya. that's the 3rd deployment different in the last twelve months. the kids start school on monday and everyone is sick. they're stinkers because they're trying to hug me so i can get sick also. gee decided to go to northwest florida state for now. she's still deciding if she wants an r.n. or b.s.n. then maybe transfer to u. of west florida.

Ah fuck me, gorgeous.

Also, your kids! They are ancient. They didn't used to be that old, I swear. Great photos, babe.

They're old, social security drawing, support hose wearing women, aren't they? How does that happen? We have a box here that I'm holding ransom until they eat, at which point they will be squealing thanks.

Did you see this link above? http://mmesa.tumblr.com/post/136934077 I am in love with this.

I wish I'd seen that. Did you see this link above? Completely love the monochromatic approach. The shapes and details demand your attention whereas the others are all about the visual impact of the colors and overall shape.

I haven't been to the Dayton Art Institute. Is it worth the drive? To be honest with you, I think I'm still awfully prejudiced about local fare. I don't mean to be; I've learned to like a lot of things about living here, but art-wise, the Cincinnati region still smells of Charles Keating, Maplethorpe and Flyover Safe subject matter.

Because you asked, right? :)
