I was a leader for 11 years. The only God we ever "celebrated" is saying grace before meals and in the promise, On my honor I will try to serve God and my country...Some troops meet in churches because they are usually free or the cheapest place to meet. There are troops that center around religion and there are badges and awards that girls can earn. No one can be kept out of Girl Scouts and I would think that whatever views your girls have would be accepted. We were all about community service, and then fundraising for our trips. My girls and myself are anything but religious and my co-leader was a Catholic who did all the Catholic things with her kids, so I would say, go for it. It's a great organization and if they stick with it they can get scholarships for college.

My eldest is actually begging to join, and I feel much more secure in giving my approval having read this. Again, thank you for putting in your personal experience.

anyway i was in girl scouts for a while and i can hardly remember anything religious at all if that was your main concern. but really it depends on the troop, and sometimes it takes a few troops before you find that perfect one. from what i've seen over the years, none of them are affiliated with any church or religion, its sort of a melting pot of cultures, ethnicity's and religions in each troop.
