Title: Water Balloon Fight
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Rating: PG
Length: 1k
Summary: Dean, Sam and Cas are at war, and someone's about to get seriously wet. (Not as kinky as it sounds, unfortunately. Teenchesters/kid!fic.)

“Alright,” Dean says, looking over his shoulder to make eye contact with Cas and Sammy. “This is what we’re gonna do. I’ll go first, draw them out of their hiding spot okay? Cas you give me back up, and Sam you sneak around and then get them that way. You got it?”

Both boys give a firm nod, eyes serious, and Dean turns back around, glares over the top of the hedge they’re hiding behind.

There’s no movement from the other side of the yard. He thinks he catches a flash of blonde hair but then it’s gone again.

“Alright, grab your weapons,” Dean whispers, picking up a water balloon at his feet. The other two do the same.

“On your marks,” Dean says, holding the water balloon firmly in one hand. “Get set… Go!”

Dean runs around, out into the open, and then Jo, Ash and Anna pop up from behind the hedge, pelting water balloons at him.

He gets hit in the chest but he doesn’t stop, catches Sam sneaking around out of the corner of his eye and Cas right behind him, throwing his water balloon through the air. Dean throws his own but realizes his fatal error when he’s standing in the middle of the yard, weaponless, the rest of the water balloons behind the hedge.

“Retreat, retreat!” he shouts.

Sam chucks his water balloon at Ash before the three of them are running back, drenched in water.

They collapse onto the grass, panting, and Cas is pouting, hair dripping wet and stuck to his forehead. Dean’s top is drenched, and Sam’s sitting there, grinning, completely dry. The sun is hot above them, so it won’t take long for them to dry out, but it still sucks.

“That wasn’t a good plan,” Cas says.

“We hit them, didn’t we?” Dean says.

Cas runs a hand through his wet hair and glares. Dean gives a cheeky grin.

“What do we do now?” Sam asks, picking up another water balloon.

“Let’s try a different tactic,” Dean says, peering back over the hedge. “Let’s lure them out. Get them away from their stash of balloons. Who wants to be bait?”

“Don’t even think about it,” Cas says, with a glare.

Dean turns to Sam with a grin. “Sammy, I guess that’s you, then.”

“Dean!” Sam whines. “I don’t wanna be bait!”

“You gotta,” Dean says. “All you have to do is stand out in No Man’s Land, but far enough away that they can’t reach you. Then they’ll have to leave their hiding place and then they’ll leave their water-bombs behind, too. Me n’ Cas will provide back up.”

“Okay,” Sam says, finally. “If you say so, Dean. You promise you’ll be back up?”

“I promise, kiddo,” Dean says. “Now, go.”

Sam slowly creeps out from behind the hedge, but doesn’t go far. He just stands there, unarmed. Dean can hear harsh whispering and see movement from the hedge opposite and then an arm pops out and a water balloon flies through the air.

It lands a metre in front of Sam, splashing onto the grass.

“Dean,” Sam hisses.

“It’s okay, just stay there!” Dean replies, trying to gather as many water balloons as he can in his arms.

Another one flies through the air but misses, and Dean and Cas get ready, arms loaded with water-bombs.

Dean shares a look with Cas, sees the steely-blue determination there and nods, once.

Then they’re jumping from behind the hedge, running past Sam while Ash, Jo and Anna run towards them, water balloons flying through the air. Dean hands one to Sam, and he throws one, gets Ash in the face and then Ash runs forward, drops one on Sam’s head.

Cas slides in the wet grass that’s now turned into mud, and knocks into Dean who wobbles before falling forward into Anna. They collapse into a heap on the wet grass, laughing, shirts soaked through.

Sam, Ash and Jo sit down next to them, grinning.

“Jesus,” Ash says. “I’m thinking we should call that evens. Nobody won that thing.”

“Pfft,” Dean says. “We won but we’ll let you guys down easy, call it a draw.”

“Sure thing,” Ash says, rolling his eyes with a smile.

“Let’s get some food,” Jo says, standing up and then handing out her hand to help Anna.

They all stand up, and shake themselves off, Sam shaking his hair like a wet dog.

“I’ll be in in a sec,” Dean says, wrapping up the hose.

“I’ll help clear up,” Cas says, as the others walk inside, chatting to each other.

The two work in silence, picking up broken balloons and stuffing them into the pockets of their jeans to throw away when they get back inside. Dean stands up and runs a hand through his wet hair to see Cas is watching him, a slight smile on his lips.

“What?” Dean asks, pausing.

Cas comes forwards and stops in front of him.

“Nothing, Dean,” he says, and then he’s blushing. Dean watches as a water droplet trickles down to the top of his lip and he runs his tongue over it, licking it off.

Dean swallows hard, clears his throat.

“It’s pretty hot,” Dean says.

Cas nods, squints up towards the blue sky. “At least the water cooled us off.”

“Yeah,” Dean says, softly, taking another step forward. They’re only inches away now, breathing the same air, and Cas’ lips part a little.

“Dean-”

Dean leans forward and presses his lips against Cas’, bringing his hand up to tangle in Cas’ wet hair. Cas brings his hands up to clutch at the front of Dean’s wet t-shirt, moaning into his mouth. They stand in the middle of the yard kissing each other messy and eager until they hear the sound of a door shutting and they jump back, breathing hard, their cheeks flushed.

Dean looks towards the edge of the yard to see Sam in the doorway, frozen.

“Um,” he says, looking anywhere but the two of them. “There’s sandwiches inside. If you want them. I’ll just…”

He turns back and shuts the door behind him again and Dean snorts, turns to Cas to see he’s trying to hold back a smile.

“Come on,” Dean says, tilting his head towards the house. Cas smiles at him and they walk back inside, shoulders knocking and hands brushing together.
