Why Pokemon fails
Pokemon. It has been around for 15 years now, 15! That's a heck of a long time for a franchise to exist and an even longer time for it to go relatively unchanged.

Even worse that they're often brought in to fix the story very near the end of development where everything is written, cut scenes are done and the story is pretty much in stone.
Would you be surprised to learn that Bioware have their own dedicated writing team? Probably not :)
