Q1. Your recent fashion
Yabu: I bought shirts for spring but this spring has been very hot so I didn’t get to wear them at all, and it seems like it will carry on like that till summer. I don’t have friends who are very particular about fashion, and most of them often wear jerseys. Even when we say “Let’s go and eat!” and gather, me and Nikaido and Kitayama, we will all be in jerseys (laugh). I also buy many of the same T-shirts in different colours. As innerwear, its okay if you just wear a single top, so I prefer comfort. Recently, I have been having a lot of fun buying sneakers! The other day I bought this pair of dark navy blue sneakers, but as I thought “Do I even have clothes which match them….?” and so I haven’t even opened them (laugh). New designs for sneakers come out very quickly, so it is fun even looking at them online♪
Hikaru: I have been filming for my drama Koshoku Robot, so I always wear comfortable clothes as I have to change immediately once I reach the filming locations. In order to change shoes easily, I wear sandals and for my clothes, I wear T-shirts on top and loose pants with soft material. Ah, but the other day, I bought a beautiful undamaged pair of jeans. I want to use it often so that the colour fades to be like a pair of vintage jeans. So when drama filming ends, I will probably keep wearing jeans!
Q2. A retro item which you like
Yabu: I still have the Super Famicom at home now, so it will be interesting even if I play it now. I can still remember the commands for Street Fighter and when playing Mario Kart, even my body moves along (laugh). When I was an elementary school student, I was in the “retro games club”! I played with spinning tops and stilts. Beyblades were in trend then and they were a modern form of a spinning top, but I insisted on challenging with my traditional top (laugh). I was so confident and said “I will be using this alright?” but I didn’t win at all.
Hikaru: If you mean retro-like items, I like corkboard textured stuff. I was probably influenced from my parents as they like such items too. My room too has cork and wood textured goods to make it seem modern. I also collect the corks from wine bottles which I get at restaurants. Each and every one is a little different, and I am especially passionate over those with engravings! Some have cute designs too and it is fun looking at them. My recent favourite is a cork in the shape of a mushroom. I display it in my kitchen♪
Q3. If you could go back in time, when?
Yabu: To the period from the end of the Edo era to the restoration of the Meiji era. I probably want to experience the dramatic change of Japan then. Like Sakamoto Ryuma, although he was in Japanese clothes but he also wore boots! But I guess, my elementary school days after all~ I want to catch crabs again!
Hikaru: To the 70-80s where heavy metal bands in Japan were popular then. I heard that those who played the guitar then would play records slowly and then playing the songs in a heavy metal version, and I thought that was really cool. There are few concerts nowadays featuring only heavy metal bands, so I want to enjoy myself to the fullest in those concerts back then! It will probably be great motivation for my guitar and bass playing too!
