Must agree on the other commenters, and might also add this is going straight to my lj memories. Don't think I've seen this particul time portrayed in fics much, and wish I had. Not to mention your characterization is most fresh and lovely. It was quite...subtle, I'd say. Got the feeling that Holmes rather bungled that conversation too, perhaps, as if he perhaps really did try to establish contact and failed at it. Poor Holmes, and poor Watson. :') ♥

And if I may say so...can't say I would mind seeing more of this either. Please *cough*

I was re-reading A Study in Scarlet the other day, and it just sort of struck me how Watson says specifically that he took 2 days to unpack (but how much shit can he honestly have to unpack that would take two days? NOT MUCH, DON'T THINK!) and that he and Holmes were on completely different schedules and never exactly SAW each other.

I think Holmes is just trying to be a friendly roommate, especially after he realizes that he's scared the poop out of Watson with the violin bow thing. In his twisted mind, his whole word vomit is supposed to make Watson feel BETTER about things. Yeahhhh not so much.

I'm so glad that you liked it. I'm very flattered, and I hope that the next chapter will let me finish it soon.

I haven't read something this well written on this particular comm (holmeswatson09 has a lot of contributors, but only a handful of skilled writers) in a while, but i'm very good i took a chance on this.

It's the PTSD that caught my eye and it was executed brilliantly. Very poignant and not overdone or campy. It had real some real pain.

The cleaning obsession was a surprising imaginative leap since most of the time Watson's cleanliness is contributed to his army days.

I loved your attention to Watson's leg pain. It put House in mind for me and the very real fact that recovery would have taken a terrible amount of time.

You wrote this very well. I liked it very much. Other than for the reasons above, it was because when i read the line, "...it almost disturbed him to find that he had listed death as a pro. Almost." I actually felt a sharp pain in my heart...literally. My left arm tingled. It happens when i read something that actually made me feel (which usually falls under the purvey of fics from katieforsythe and janeturenne or random_nexusSo yes, i have been successful ( ... )

...holy shit you've just compared me to katieforsythe?? I can't really think of anything to say now except holyshitTHANKYOU.

And dude I love that left arm tingly heart feeling!! I never thought I'd be writing something that made anyone's arm tingle, so I'm pretty psyched.

I guess all that House fic I used to write is finally coming in handy. ;)

And thank you, because this is such a nice and flattering review that I never expected to be getting, so you just made my day. :)

Wow, this was wonderful! I'm just reading A Study in Scarlet, and I'm struck by the description of Watson as being still fairly unnerved by his experiences in the Army, and so I'm really interested in seeing a story that deals more with this time.

And I love your depiction of Holmes, probably trying to be helpful, in the only way he can think of, and failing, miserably.

I will be really eager to see where this goes...

Yeah, from the way I read it, Watson is still pretty traumatized until Holmes distracts him from how crank and miserable he is. In that way, Holmes is helpful. But when he actually TRIES? Not so much...
