Fleur de Lis

There are many "loves" of my adult life that can be traced back to The Three Musketeers.

1. My love for these three men:

Tim Curry,

Kiefer Sutherland, and

Charlie Sheen.  (Yes, I will always have a soft spot for Charlie.)

2. My attraction to men (and women) who successfully play with swords:

I honestly don't think I would have wanted to join CTRF if it wasn't for this movie.

3.  But the newest, or perhaps it's just a resurgence, is for...the fleur de lis.

I absolutely love this shape.  I remember seeing the brand on Rebecca De Mornay's skin in the film in 1993 and thinking the design was beautiful.  When it came time to pick the color of my kitchen, I was drawn to that purple color above (it's not called Fleur de Lis, but it has a French name.)  My mother bought me a necklace and earrings today at Charming Charlies simply because they were Fleur de lis.  I'd been shopping at the same store about a month ago, and almost bought a purse, simply because of the pattern.  I don't know why I love the design so much, or why I'm suddenly re-obsessed with it.  It would be another tattoo of mine, I think, if I were ever to get ink again, although I know the connotation from the movie is less than stellar.  Then again, my first tattoo is the symbol of a fallen race of fictional super-warriors, so...
