That's ridiculous. I fucking hate the holidays. Hey, I'm going to make fruitcake this year! I want to try it. Can you give me the recipe you use or like?

"holiday"-themed cookbooks (and other books) are for sale year-round on Amazon. also, there are people who seem to want the Xmas season to last all year - i know a couple of them, and they're kind of scary. but i think most of it is just that retailers want people to have plenty of time to see what they can buy to give as gifts... especially in an economy that's going to make people think long and hard about how much they want to spend on gifts this year.

Ugh. I wish my family would agree to just do away with gifts this year (except for The Boy - he's a kid, but I'd like it if they'd buy him ONE thing from his "wish list" and then give money to put in his college fund), and then let's all take that money and go to the beach for a few days.

Or maybe I just want to go to the beach for Christmas, and I'm being selfish. :)
