❝pudica bibliothecaria❞
police quality ; pudica bibliothecaria
Pudicia Bibliothecaria roughly translates to "chaste/modest librarian", which fits Nodoka's personality well. She was a member of the Library club, as well as the Library Exploration Club, which probably lent itself to the latter aspect of her police quiality. As for her chaste/modest nature - that is proven numerous times throughout canon. No matter what she does, Nodoka always professes that she hasn't done much, or that others have done much better than her, or been more helpful. It's as though she cannot see her own greatness and it causes her much embarrassesment. Furthermore, her innocent nature also indicates the "chaste" translation; despite some of the thoughts she has about her teacher she is innocent when it comes to love and the things related to it.
virtue ; audacia
Nodoka's virtue is "audacia" - strength in courage - which is well deserved. Throughout the series, despite her shy and reserved nature, Nodoka proves herself to be a brave member of Negi's party. She throws herself into battle although she has very little combat skills (her defensive tactics are, however, magnificent). Indeed, it seems that no matter what the situation entails Nodoka with push through her fear and stand up to defend the people she loves, showing real courage. Even when it seemed that it was only her death that their enemies truly wanted she pushed forward and faced them, almost losing her life in doing so. It's obvious that the courage trait suits her perfectly.
direction ; occidens
Occidens is West - the direction of paradise, enlightenment and death. Evil and misfortune is normally associated with the West - which, when you consider Nodoka's history with battles and people trying to kill her fits. It is also associated with progress and discovery, alongside explorers. Given Nodoka's friendship with the treasure hunters and her enjoyment of studying and learning this is also a fitting direction for the girl. It's also suggested that the West is also the direction of persistance and energy, two words that can fit Nodoka in multiple scenarios.
colour ; cyaneum
Nodoka's colour is dark blue. Dark blue colours symbolise intelligence, stability and importance, while others also have playfulness behind their meanings. Blue is also a calming colour that doesn't portray any sinister feelings that might be linked with other dark coluors - indeed, dark blue is said to be able to keep the spirits away. In simple turns, blue is the colour of trust, loyalty and wisdom, intelligence and faith; all traits that could be pinned to Nodoka throughout her time as Negi's pactio partner. She has proven herself to be trusting and loyal over and over again, and her intelligence and faith are all vitally important to her character and to how she has helped her friends throughout the story.
plants ; mercurius
Mercury is a representation of the principles of communication - mentality, thinking, rationality and reasoning, whilst being adaptable. In the natal chart, Mercury rules intellect, communication, logic and resourcefulness. In essence, Mercury is the symbol of a rational, logical person who is resourceful and able to communicate - which fits Nodoka almost perfectly. She was able to make use of her artifact to make her way back to Negi after being trapped in the Magical World, even being resourceful enough to pick up new gadgets while she was making her way. She is intellectual and intelligent, her grades and love of studying further proof of this. Even though she can be a little impulsive she is able to think rationally in order to make the best of a situation - as she did when she was fighting Dynamis.
number ; xxvii
The roman numerical number in the corner of Nodoka's card is a reference to the seat number she had while she was in Negi's class: she was number twenty-seven.
