Tabz, this is absolutely fantastic. I very recently swore off of YA fiction, because most of the new stuff is, sadly, quite rubbish. But I would pick this up in a second. I love your voice and the world you've made; the whole thing just makes me smile. However, the parts that made me laugh were:

It leaned to the left and everybody knew that they were more of a right-leaning family.
Mrs. Richardson, like most mothers, always seemed on the verge of blowing a gasket.
