Can someone who understands economics better than me explain why no one has seriously suggested turning the $700bil buyout into a stock grab? Seems like that would solve all the problems at once.
Although I had actually been thinking about this for a while now, I didn't make the post until I saw that Krugman was suggesting it too. What I meant was that noone in congress is making the suggestion, despite objecting to it. They're saying they want some control over how the money is used and the possibility of getting it back after this is over. Buying stock seems like it would make everyone happy.
