Freedom of speech means freedom of religion, which also means freedom not to be religious or have your own take on it. If Obama's gonna legalize pot, he should bite the bullet and legalize gay marriage, as well. Fuck your religious shit, dammit. Gay people aren't hurting anyone simply by being gay, for chrissakes. -_-

I wanna know why no one would have a problem if I decided to get married (which I won't, by the way, but that's another story, if somewhat related) despite the fact that I absolutely have no intention of ever having children. I mean, isn't that the whole friggin' point these idiots are trying to make about the "sanctity of marriage" or whatever the fuck psychotic bullshit they're trying to spew? And who said that gay people don't want or don't have kids? Cripes, man. What a load...

Hi Libby,

Being non-religious myself, I don't understand why religions have such a problem with this >=/. It's not like they have a monopoly over marriages or something like they think they do.

Exactly! They seem to fail to understand that the modern concept of marriage is a very different animal than the archaic concept they desperately cling to. Keep in mind that women were and sadly often still are seen as nothing more than livestock. Their only real purpose back then was to further the bloodlines. Marriage was a sort of contract/sale of a man's daughter to another man, hence "giving his daughter's hand in marriage". These days, it's seen more as either an official means of declaring two people as a sort of family unit or couple, or a sort of business contract (ie, "don't fuck me over, I won't fuck you over"), or both.

It's two people declaring that they want to share a life together, and anything else is just details. ;p
