It feels like I've been away for a while even though it's only been like a week. You'd think I've been busy all this time but no. I was working on my documented essay for a bit, we got in groups and did peer review yesterday, I only barely had three pages but I didn't read it anyway. Happy Thanksgiving, Riena!

I've always been the quiet one in public. I'm not the most social person and I'm not even sure how to be, once I get to know people, then I start loosening up more.

I'm pretty much like that, too (though it probably doesn't show very much on LJ) - I suppose the fact that it took me about seven years to de-lurk in fandom is pretty telling. ;)

One thing I've learnt over time, though, is that if you just go around smiling and laughing a lot people tend to warm to you lots more. Of course, I felt a bit like and idiot going crazy at first ... but the weirdness passes. :D

That's true, people that smile a lot always seem friendly and approachable. If I'm with friends or family then I'll go around laughing too loud and not caring, but when I'm by myself, I'm probably come off really serious.
I'll take your word for it, most weirdnesses usually do pass eventually.
