The Westboro Baptist Church is proving again that they are insensitive jerks and non-Christian assholes!

Before you read that article, the context is last weekend’s shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords where, 19 people were shot, Six died, and 13 were wounded, including Giffords, who was shot in the head.

The Arizona legislature passed a measure yesterday prohibiting such protests within 300ft of a funeral. The Governor signed it last night.

You can also be assured that The Patriot Guard Riders have made their standard offer to the Family to block the WBC attention whores from being seen or heard that day.

That was indeed mentioned in the articles that I referenced. Who are The Patriot Guard Riders?

The Religious Right are getting worse by the day, almost the Christian version of the Taliban. We don't need either of them. The US is a secular country.

Here is their stated mission page, NBC reported on them and this amateur video shows how they shield the mourners from the WBC nutcases.

WBC is not representative of any religious or political group other than themselves. It is comprised of blood relatives most of whom are lawyers and they make their living by suing anyone who gets in the way of their hate speech.

Thanks, I have forwarded this to my brother, in Simi Valley, California, who still rides with the Weasles. They might be interested.

I'm not a fan of Southern Baptists, but at their worst they are nothing like Westboro. And I quote:

20. Is Fred Phelps (the pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church and leader of those who protest under the slogan "God Hates Fags") or his church affiliated with the SBC?

We share concern over the unbiblical views and offensive tactics of Fred Phelps and his followers at Westboro (Independent) Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. Westboro does not have now, nor has ever had, any relationship with the Southern Baptist Convention. His extreme positions not only stand in contrast to the SBC, more importantly, they stand in contrast to God's Word. Scripture clearly teaches that homosexual behavior is sinful in the eyes of a just and holy God; but the Bible also clearly proclaims God’s love for all sinners, including homosexuals, and that He offers forgiveness to all who repent and place their faith in the atoning death of Jesus Christ for our sins. -- From Southern Baptist Convention FAQ

New update for you. Apparently they can be bribed into not protesting.

They've backed down a bit: Church agrees to not protest slain child's funeral.

Doesn't make them any less despicable though.
