The US Dollar dropped below 0.92 CHF (Swiss Franks), yesterday. It is still there this morning at 0.918 CHF. In a way, that’s a hidden inflation. A McDonalds burger costs over 8CHF here, that’s over $8 for a burger that costs under $2 in the States, even at California prices!

The fact that a 40-year-old nuke plant with a design that was considered relatively "unsafe" one year after it went live can handle a magnitude 9.0 quake and tsunami this well inspires confidence. Nobody said there would never be issues, problems, or disasters with nuclear power. The worst nuclear disaster is still better for the environment than any coal-fired plan could ever be on a good day. I would welcome a nuclear power plant in my back yard, but nothing else. Everything else is too dangerous, noisy, or a severe threat to wildlife.

two options either seem to be for fusion to magically start working or for somebody to find a way to make fission much much safer...

shame nobody will even tinker with #2 anymore...
