Ha, me too! (Which sounds odd as I, y'know, wrote it... but I know that feeling wrt fanfiction so well!) I never figured out canonically whether she did get more comments on this one than the past one, but what the hell, I am now declaring that she did. Her popularity in fandom is supposed to be ramping up at this point anyway so that would make sense. Thanks for commenting!
I enjoyed this take..would love to read more about their world..you captured the dysfunctional relationship really well...:) I would have liked a bit of space in between the dialogue..it kinda fatigued my eyes..(or maybe too many entries read in a day could be a possible reason). Enjoyed reading this nevertheless...Good work!
Thanks so much! I’m really glad some people are finding it engaging and are interested in the wider context. I wasn’t going to provide the link to the book it’s excerpted from because I didn’t want it to seem like I was posting an excerpt from the book as an ad for the book -- the prompt made me think so strongly of Jane because her refusal to accept help is a big theme in the book, so that’s why I chose to do that -- but since people are asking, it’s here. (If I am being inappropriate by linking this, please ignore me!) There’s a Look Inside the Book thing and a Kindle preview if you wanted to read a little more about Jane without committing to a whole book. :) Oh, and thank you for mentioning about the dialogue format! Looking back I can totally see that that would start to seem like one very long uninterrupted block of text. I really appreciate comments like that. Thanks again!
Thanks! I really appreciate it. Up-thread I have linked to the book it’s excerpted from because a few people have expressed interest but I feel like I may be a total tool for doing so (I really didn’t want this to seem like an ad) so please poke through or not at your leisure.
