Continuing to read about the Kim Davis thing, which is one of the stupidest three-ring circuses I've ever seen, and I'm particularly hung up on Mike Huckabee offering to go to jail for her. Like I don't even know which part of that is the stupidest part. Is it the fact that it is the emptiest promise possible, since we do not actually live in a ( Read more... )

You mean we could put Mike Huckabee in jail, too?

Hell yeah. Can we find a way to jail Trump?

This sounds like hitting the lottery.

Sadly, I don't think we can put Huckabee in jail, because if we actually could, he never, ever would have offered.

Trump, on the other hand, idk. I would be pretty surprised if he had never done anything illegal. I feel like corruption is leaking out of his pores.

LOL λ showed me a version of that meme, except it was Winston from Ghostbusters, who didn't believe in ghosts. My family are Ghostbusters fanatics so I was an especial fan of that one.

Also I hope you are known to have prophetic dreams.

I agree with all of your points here, but would also like to say that I have missed you enormously on LJ and am very glad to see you back. And I had a particularly shitty day today (speaking of So Much Stupid, want to have a Stupid-off? I've been babysitting people in a Facebook group I run, who apparently think that's my actual job and spent the day while I was at work demanding that I get on Facebook and "do my job" and there's more but I'll spare you) and this post made me laugh so much and it made me feel so much better. So thank you for this, on multiple levels.

Aww, thank you! I'm glad you're still here! Being off FB and Tumblr has been very good for me in a lot of ways but I do miss some of the people, so I'm glad that you're here and I don't have to miss you!

Also, they think a Facebook group is your job? Bwuh? Michael, are you now in Zuckerberg's employ? That seems unlike you.

I wish I were getting paid for the work I've poured into some of these groups. Ffs. They don't think I'm getting paid, but they do seem to think that the group and its drama du jour should be my primary focus. People really don't understand how much time and work goes into maintaining a group on Facebook or LJ or Reddit or wherever, especially when the group has thousands of people in it, and even when you have co-admins to help. My favorite is still the one demanding I "do my job", posted while I was at work. i did some enthusiastic swinging of the banhammer and the trolls and drama seem to have calmed down for the time being, fortunately.

I am so glad I have you to update me on how things have gone on because after she was jailed, all the Facebook posts on her seemed to stop. Survivor?! Seriously?! Wow.

I've seen various people point out that she'd had several marriages but I wasn't aware they they were before her religious epiphany. It still rubbed me up the wrong way a little that people were using those as an example of how hypocritical she was - I mean, unless she was previously married to three women then surely it's irrelevant. I didn't think divorce was an issue for her particular branch of Christianity. But hey, that's me trying to apply logic to a situation that bears no resemblance to logic AT ALL.

And yay for Massachusetts being the one sane state ;)

The Kim Davis saga is one that continues to garner way more than the attention that she deserves. Rather than resigning-- the honorable thing to do-- she's decided to milk this for all it's worth to her. I'm betting that she is looking for a spot on the fundamentalist Christian talk circuit or even as a Fox news commentator or something.

I don't care about her previous marriages or what the Bible says about them. I only care about her position as a public servant and her grandstanding efforts to turn her office into the same old tired cry of "I'm a Christian and I'm being persecuted for my beliefs." Lady, you have no idea what that sentence even means.

Happy Anniversary slammerkinbabe a few weeks late. Wishing you and yours every happiness there is!
