I also hated the old Pottermore and gave up on it pretty quickly after joining (and being sorted into Slytherin - seriously, wtf kind of special crack are you on, Pottermore), so I look forward to your thoughts on the new one! Mostly I'm commenting to let you know that a very nice person on Reddit created http://reddit.com/r/pottermorewritings and it has ALL of the extra content from Pottermore, organized and indexed, and it's pretty much the best thing ever. You're welcome for ruining your productivity even more.
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT LINK YOU DO NOT EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH I WILL CHERISH IT. I was always looking for something like that but I'm not a Redditor and it just never crossed my radar. There was a Tumblr that used to syndicate a small amount of the stuff but ALL THE EXTRA CONTENT, INDEXED, OMG DYING OF SQUEE
The first time I signed up for Pottermore it sorted me into Hufflepuff, which I had a hard time with at first because of 'Puff stigma, but eventually came around to being happy about. Then I lost my login or something and made another account and even though I really thought I answered all of the questions the same it sorted me into Ravenclaw that time. I think they tried to keep the numbers of people in each House roughly even, so you could get Sorted into different Houses just based on the demographics of the site at the time when you signed up. Might be worth doing the Sorting quiz again when it's back up, if being a Slytherin really bothers you. (I don't see you as Slytherin either.)
Ftmichael just linked above to a Reddit that collected all the original material from the site and indexed it! What I've been looking for and not finding for years!!!!
I liked some of the old Pottermore! The whole point of it was supposed to be a virtual Hogwarts but I think they took the protection side of it to extremes. It was impossible to try and chat to people when you couldn't even put a number in your comments which was particularly stupid if you needed to tell people to go to a certain Chapter. They've had to change it now because of the new films coming out, to show that the Potter-verse is expanding beyond the original books. I haven't even looked at it yet :-/

Also, I could never find anything the rare times I got in. I'm sad to hear this may be as bad.
