I came across her thanks to my Canadian friend Marcie, who sent me a copy of 'Kissing the Witch'. I was immediately hooked :-) My favourite is her short story collection 'The Woman Who Gave Birth to Rabbits', because they're so quirky and inventive.

Did you know she's expecting her first baby? (One of Marcie's friends is friends with Emma!!)

I emailed Emma via her website for her autograph (yeah, sad fandom...) and I think she was quite chuffed by the request! Anyway, I now have three rather lovely Emma D autographs :D

I found Kissing The Witch for cheap at a book shop and immediately knew it was my perfect book - fairy tales with a recommendation from FLB on the cover? Mm. So I read that in a day and went hunting for Emma's other books at used shops - I got Hood which I loved but can never read again and Stir-Fry which I adored completely and reread once a year. I also found We Are Michael Fields and The Lady Who Gave Birth to Rabbits - neither of which I've finished yet because I read a million books at once.

She's has very quirky, dreamy writing - full of wit. So lovely.

Was looking through the book shelves at Borders at random, looking around for something good, and I found Slammerkin. The title intruiged me, as did the cover art, and the minute I started I was hooked! Cliche but true.

So I went on the hunt for more Emma after I finished Slammerkin. I'd been eying Kissing the Witch for some time in the Young Adult section, but once I knew it was by Emma I grabbed it and loved it. Which reminds me, I lent it out to a friend and need to get it back, heh . . .

I got The Woman Who Gave Birth to Rabbits in hardcover because I couldn't wait to buy it in paperback. Plus, the hardcover illustration is gorgeous. My favorite story in it is "The Necessity of Burning".

PS: I think Emma needs an LJ! Hee.

This really cute girl who likes guys in eyeliner once posted something in an online journal site about this author, and as I have a great desire for the great big kiss she promised, I am gonna run out and buy Slammerkins ASAP. I will join the community once I am finished reading (if i like it)
