Last week I taught a 1st grader how to play chess. For it being his first time playing it ever(and being a 1st grader), he did pretty well. Then yesterday his mom thanked me for teaching him how to play. She said he repeated most all the rules to her and that he was very accurate in retelling them. well I dunno about that, but I do what I can. Its easier when he's a good kid. Sometimes I don't feel like I get anywhere with the ones with real problems, or if I do, they dont show it.

My friend Brian tried to teach me how to play Chess, and I kept it up for one game, and I lost. Horribly, I might add. Yet you taught a first grader and made him like it. Damn, I wish I had the upper mammalian brain functions to do that kind of shit...

yeah chess requires the ability to sit for a long period of time and think out your actions. I have an easier time than most when it comes to drawing, so I guess thats where that kind of stuff comes from; being able to spend a long time on something and go slowly at it.
